To look up a word, enter the word in the box, choose the 'English' or 'Japanese word in romaji' option. If your computer can write Japanese script you could use the first option for words both ways. Tick 'Restrict to common words' and 'Require exact word-match' boxes. Click 'Begin Search'.

This dictionary has a very large number of words. Make sure you tick the box for 'Search only commonly-used words' (below the text box on the right-hand side).
