Kiwi Tsunami Sotsugyou Ryokou Award
Congratulations to the five students and the teacher who were selected to go to Japan in the first year of this fantastic award.

Thanks to all students who sent in applications. There were a large number of excellent applications.
The five students who were chosen are:
Wiremu Kino (Bream Bay College, Northland) - a Correspondence School student
Jenna Fraser (Hamilton Girls' High) - a boarder who is from Taumarunui
Luke Storie (Kaipara College)
Lauren Sawtell (Burnside High, Christchurch)
Jayne Shuker (Waiuku College, Franklin District)
The teacher who will accompany the group is Ms Sacha Morse, Westlake Girls' High School.

The group will spend ten days in Japan in January. Their itinerary includes time in Nagasaki, Kyoto and Tokyo. They will meet Jonny Hendriksen, the major sponsor of the award, and Heath Cozens who produced the Kiwi Tsunami video.

NZAJLT is very grateful to Heath and Jonny for their vision and effort to provide this wonderful opportunity for Kiwi students of Japanese. Thank you also to Toshiko Kawai of ValueClick for organisation of the programme in Japan, and the NZAJLT committee for organisation in New Zealand.
A report about the trip will be added to the web site in late January.
