Deai New Zealand Photo Essay Project
The NZ Photo Essay Initiative is a plan to send photo essays about the lives of seven NZ students to Japan to be displayed on the Japan Forum web site.
The DEAI materials produced by the Japan Forum have been sent to several countries where Japanese is taught. The materials are based on an extensive bank of photos of seven students from different parts of Japan. We would like to produce some short photo essays based on the lives of New Zealand students accompanied by simple text in Japanese that a student who has been studying Japanese for 2-3 years could understand (N.Z. Year 11-12 level). The best seven would be sent to the Japan Forum for display on their website. It is hoped that a bank of similar photo essays will be created depicting the lives of students from other countries, the unifying factor being the use of the Japanese language to communicate. Ms. Muronaka from the Japan Forum who visited New Zealand at the end of last year is keen to support this project. If you would like to take part in this project, go to the "Photo Essay" page and download the instructions.
When you have completed your essay save it on a disc and send it to:
Yumi Eto, National Japanese Language Advisor
ACENZ International Languages North
ACE Private Bag 92-601, Auckland.
Before your photo essay is displayed we will send you a form to be signed by you and a parent to allow your photos to be displayed on the Internet.
