Obituary for Niki Brocherie
We are saddened by the death of our friend and colleague, Niki Brocherie. Niki had taught Japanese at Avonside Girls’ High School in Christchurch since 1989. She was prominent in the Christchurch Teachers’ group and was actively involved in organising activities for students in the Christchurch area. She also participated enthusiastically in national conferences and professional development courses. During her time at Avonside, she led many student study tours to Japan, with her last being in September 2006. She will be greatly missed by her friends in the Christchurch Japanese Teachers group, her colleagues at Avonside and all her students. Her funeral was held in Christchurch on Monday 8th January 2007.
