2006 Japanese-Language Programme for High School Students
The Japan Foundation is offering the E006 Japanese Language Programme for High School StudentsE This programme is intended to offer outstanding students of Japanese language at high schools abroad the opportunity to visit Japan and to deepen their understanding of the Japanese language, culture, and society for the purpose of further encouragement of their study of the Japan language. The successful candidates from all over the world would attend the programme between 27th of June and 11th of July, 2006 at the Japanese Language Institute, Kansai , Japan . Eligibility to apply for this programme are those who 1. are presently studying Japanese language at overseas high schools (age of 15 to 18 as of 27th of June, 2006); 2. have authorized Grade 4 in the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test or possess equal ability in the Japanese language to accomplish this programme; 3. have not stayed in Japan for more than 1 week (7 days) during the period from 26th of June, 2001 to 27th of June, 2006; 4. are not scheduled to visit to Japan for study or training except under this programme; 5. have not completed compulsory education in Japan ; 6. hold nationality or permanent residency of New Zealand ; 7. are in good physical and mental health; If you have a student who is eligible for this programme, please submit a handwritten Japanese composition by your student of approximately 200ji titled “What I would like to do in JapanEand send it to the Director, Japan Information and Cultural Centre, by fax (04-472-3416) by TUESDAY, 11th of APRIL, 2006 with the name and the date of birth of the student and the name of the school and also a contact phone number. After initial selection, the successful candidates will be interviewed by telephone. This will be conducted in mid-April. The short-listed candidates will be informed in mid-April by the Japan Information and Cultural Centre and be asked to fill in application form.
